Join us to break down the barriers preventing people with disabilities from accessing Lebanon’s beaches and aquatic sports.
Our vision is to make beaches, aquatic sports, and their associated essential services fully accessible to people with disabilities, ensuring everyone can live independently enjoying the freedom and benefits of the water.
Through inclusive infrastructure and specialized support, we aim to create equal opportunities for all to experience the joy of the sea and aquatic activities.
The Accessible Sea and Aquatics Project (ASAP) is committed to ensuring that Lebanon’s beaches are accessible to individuals with disabilities, thereby enabling them to enjoy the therapeutic and recreational advantages of the sea. By addressing accessibility challenges, we aim to foster inclusion, empowerment, and well-being for individuals often excluded from these experiences. Our approach includes:
1. Collaborating with Coastal Communities and Private Sector Stakeholders to remove physical barriers and enhance infrastructure, such as ramps and walkways, ensuring seamless access to the beach for people with disabilities.
2. Providing Specialized Aquatic Sports Services, including adaptive diving and swimming, that cater to the specific needs of individuals with disabilities to support health, well-being, and achievement.
3. Advocacy and Empowerment to champion the rights of people with disabilities, ensuring they have full access to Lebanon’s beaches, with dignity and respect.
In Lebanon, people with disabilities (PwD) often face exclusion from basic rights and services that others take for granted. Unlike many other countries, Lebanon lacks sufficient laws and infrastructure to ensure that its public spaces, including beaches, are accessible to all. PwD are often left behind, unable to enjoy the same privileges and experiences that others do. However, Lebanon’s expansive coastline presents an incredible opportunity to change this, and that is where the Accessible Sea and Aquatics Project (ASAP) comes in.
Founded in 2025, ASAP’s mission is to break down the barriers preventing PwD from accessing Lebanon’s beaches and engaging in aquatic sports like swimming and diving. By collaborating closely with communities, local governments, and private sector partners, ASAP is creating accessible spaces and offering specialized aquatic activities that cater to the unique needs of PwD.
By investing in ASAP, you are not just supporting an initiative—you’re becoming a catalyst for transformative change. Your contribution will help remove barriers, provide life-changing experiences, and uplift the lives of individuals with disabilities in Lebanon. Together, we can create lasting impact by opening new doors of opportunity, ensuring that people with disabilities can experience the healing and joy of the sea. Join us today to be part of a movement that transforms lives, strengthens communities, and promotes a more inclusive society.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet the needs of people with disabilities. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
We love our community members, so feel free to visit during normal business hours.
